President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday visited Yobe state, less than a month after 110 schoolgirls were abducted from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi. The presidency has released images of President Buhari holding a townhall meeting with leaders in the state.
The president had been criticized for staying glued to Abuja while horrific incidents befall different parts of the country. Following the torrent of criticisms, presidential handlers announced President Buhari would visit Yobe, among other states like Benue, Taraba and Plateau where dozens have died in incessant farmer-cattle herders skirmishes.
The presidency explained that President Buhari had first ordered assessment reports on the different incidents and after receiving the briefings decided to visit the states.
Prior to his arrival in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe, President Buhari had visited Maiduguri, in Borno – the hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency.
