Court Asked To Nullify Oyegun’s Extended Tenure

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos is being asked to nullify the tenure extension of All Progressive Congress National Chairman, John Odiegie-Oyegun. A National Executive Meeting of the party held weeks ago extended the tenure of the party’s national, state and ward executives by one year.

APC party man, Adewale Hammed in his suit urged the court to declare the tenure elongation “unconstitutional”.

Hammed called the court’s attention to Section 223 of the 1999 Constitution and Articles 13 and 17 of the APC Constitution. More so, he asked the court to bar the National Executive Committee from approving the tenure extension.

The judge, Mojisola Olatoregun granted the Hammed’s prayer to sue and also requested him to put the defendants on notice, serve all court processes and hearing notices on them.

The defendants are Oyegun, Segun Oni, Deputy National Chairman (South ); Senator Lawal Shaibu, Deputy National Chairman (North); Ibrahim Gubi, National Secretary, Pius Akinyelure, Vice-Chairman (South-west).

The case was adjourned until March 27 for hearing.
