Emmanuel Ezeugwu, a final year student of the Department of Public Administration, Institute Of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu, reportedly stabbed a commercial sex worker to death over a disagreement. Ezeugwu was said to have stabbed the deceased in his home at Onuato Street, around 3:30a.m after which he tried to escape to Lagos. He was however arrested by the police on his way. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, the sex worker accompanied Ezeugwu to his apartment, where they had a disagreement which resulted in a scuffle that led to her death. “The suspect picked up the sex worker at Rangers Avenue on Sunday after they had agreed on a payment of N4,000 for a night with him. He had had a lot to drink and when they arrived at his home he demanded they have sex immediately but his female companion asked to finish what she was inhaling before they could get down to business. ”After pressuring her to have sex with him for several hours, the suspect slept off and woke up before 3 a.m. He then ordered the sex worker to leave his apartment since they ended up not having sex.” he said. The spokesperson said the suspect told police that the deceased refused to leave his apartment and allegedly warned him to stop threatening her. Infuriated by the sex worker’s utterances, the suspect was said to have stabbed her with a kitchen knife in the stomach and neck region resulting to her death. Ezeugwu allegedly wrapped the deceased’s body in a wrapper and made arrangement to travel to Lagos but was caught by members of a local vigilante group following a tip-off. Amaraizu said the body of the deceased was found at the suspect’s apartment and had been deposited in the mortuary at Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre, Enugu.
