Katsina Gets New Chief Judge


Aminu Bello Masari, governor of Katsina State has on Tuesday sworn in new Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar in the state.

Justice Abubakar until his appointment was the Judge of the Katsina High Court. Abubakar took over as Chief Judge following retirement of the immediate past Chief Judge, Justice Abdullahi Yusuf Kafur.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony, governor Masari tasked the new Chief Judge, on speedy dispensation of judgment in the state.

He described the appointment of the new chief judge as based on merit, competency, professionalism and display of fairness in delivering judgements.

According to Masari, “Justice Abubakar is an erudite jurist whose experience and practice of the legal profession has been a reproach. “He has over the years established an enviable reputation as a man of conscience who is fair, just and firm in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“You must work hard not to just follow in the footsteps of your predecessors, but surpass them by deepening Justice administration in the State.

“As a government we will assist you in discharging your responsibilities. We will not in any way as a government interfere in your activities as a judge. Even Your immediate predecessors can tell you this, we have never interfere in your affairs despite the lean resources accrued to the state we make sure that the judiciary is well refunded.

“Katsina has history in the Nigeria Judiciary and I hope you will enrich the history. We have produced two presidents federal court of appeal and one of them is here. Apart from that, we have so many justices at the Apex court,” Governor Masari said.

In his response, the new Justice Abubakar assured that fairness and justice will be the watchword of judicial system under his watch in the state.

Meanwhile, with the swearing in, Justice Abubakar is the fourth Chief Judge since the creation of the state.
