The Nigerian presidency has clarified the misinformation that international model, Naomi Campbell is a guest of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The initial post by the British model on her Instagram that she was invited by President Buhari propped up a backlash on the social media with various memes targeted to ridicule the president.
Nigerians poured scorn on the president for inviting the British model, suggesting she might ship off a hefty payment for her showing. However, it became clear amid the controversy that the model had come for the Arise Fashion show holding in Lagos.
Campbell had also taken down her initial post, following a clarification by Bashir Ahmad, President Buhari's assistant on social media.
Ahmad claimed the model only met the president at the launch of the Eko Atlantic City project on Victoria Island, Lagos, and requested a photo with him.
Another media aide of the president , Femi Adesina said Campbell was "among those who were around during the guided tour.
She "had a greeting session with the President. She also took pictures with the President, some of the other dignitaries at the event, and also some presidential aides," said Adesina.
Despite the clarifications, President Buhari has continued to get flaks on the social media.
Meanwhile, Campbell held a meet and greet with fans at the George Hotel on Friday night. Among those who met with the delectable model was oil billionaire Femi Otedola, singer Sheyshay, Society high up, Ruth Osime, Celebrity fashion designer and stylist, Jeremiah Ogbodo.
