Two persons have been arraigned before an Ikeja magistrates court for allegedly forging First Bank statement of account of a company, Medspace Managers Limited. The suspects were said to have used the statement, dated May 9th to November 9, 2017, to secure visa for 136 Nigerians from the South African Embassy. The suspects are, Rufai Hammed Olalekan, 25, and Oshun Wasiu Omobolanle, 36. Police prosecutor, identified simply as Benson, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 7, 2017 at First Bank Iju branch, in the Iju area of Lagos state. He said the offence contravened and punishable under Section 411 and 365(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos state of Nigeria. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two counts charge of forgery preferred against them. Presiding magistrate, B.O. Osunsanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. She said that the sureties must have evidence of tax payment and a verified address. The case was adjourned till July 16, 2018.
