Three young men reportedly robbed a naval officer with a locally-made pistol at Okokomaiko, in the Ojo area of Lagos.
The defendants, who were arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, are Hassan Ibrahim, 27, Olamilekan Aremu, 20, and Rabiu Sanni, 19. They all collect and sell scrap metals, the police said.
The accused youths were also accused pf robbing one Simon Gideon of his Gionee cell phone said to worth N75,000.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Hafsat Ajibode said of the attack on Gideon: “The complainant was coming back from work when the accused attacked him with a locally made pistol and robbed him of his phone.
“He raised alarm and with the help of some passers-by they were able to arrest accused, while the others ran away.”
Ajobode said the alleged offence contravened Sections 297(2) and 299(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
After listening to the prosecutor, Chief Magistrate G. O. Anifowoshe ordered their remanded in Kirikiri Prisons. She also ordered that the case file should be forwarded to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for his advice.
