Some armed robbers in military camouflage reportedly stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church, located at Angwan Kwaso, in Zuba area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. They carted away church’s money and worshippers’ phones.
NAN reported the robbers also whisked off three women.
The church leader, Prophet Oladejo John, said the attack occurred during a vigil. He said the robbers fired gunshots to scare people, before carrying out the heinous act.
John said he threw bottles along the path the robbers took, which upon hitting the earth sounded like a gunshot. ‘The robbers thinking it was a gunshot returned fire’, said the prophet.
“They fired back at my direction and ran away,’’ he said.
An eyewitness, komolafe Bose, said the bandits ordered everyone faced down, after which they asked for the pastor. However, her narration of the abducted women’s sharply contradicted the account of the prophet.
According to her, “they asked daddy where is his gun, Daddy asked them to introduce themselves first, then one of them used a stick and hit him on his body.
“The other one attacked and beat him, asking where he kept his money and phone.
“After robbing us, they took four women away including daddy’s wife, they took me with my daughter, when getting outside the Church, they asked me to go back.
“My daughter was taken away, on their way inside the bush, they told one of the women to go back, and then left with the remaining three.
“They told our pastor to pay N5 million for the women to be released.
“He followed them behind, on his way, he saw that the woman had been released.’’
