A man has landed in prison over sexual assault of a teenager. Roy Ojeaga, a 32-year-old barber, reportedly assaulted the eight-year-old girl, who had gone to his shop to have a haircut. “He bolted the door and asked the girl to fondle his private part and the rest of his body”, said police inspector, Chinalu Uwadione. Uwadione, who is the prosecutor, told an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, the incident happened on March 31 at about 5.00 p.m. at Ilaje Road, Bariga. He added that the girl told her mother what happened at the barber’s shop, leading to Ojeaga’s arrest. The prosecutor said Ojeaga’s alleged offence contravened Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised). However, the defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge of defilement of a minor. Chief Magistrate, A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, thereafter ordered his remand in prison, while directing that the case file be sent to the Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja. She adjourned the case until May 3 for mention.
