Cultism: Lagos CP Parades Child Offenders

Edgal Imohimi, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos, has paraded three under-18 secondary school students and another person of adult age over their alleged involvement in cultism.

The affected students from both Atunrasha Senior Secondary School and Birch Freeman Junior Secondary School, in Surulere, Lagos, are Femi Awoniyi, 17, Dauda Sodiq, 15, Timilehin Balogun, 17, Ajala Hafiz, 13. They were paraded along with a non-student, Mayowa Rauf Oguntoye, 18, who the suspects alleged was their sponsor and weapon supplier.

“The students were arrested by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ilupeju Police Station on their way to carry out a hit against a rival cult group at Eko Boys High School and they have confessed to the police,” a police statement stated.

Recovered from the suspects are five sharp knives and one cutlass. Imohimi said the suspects would be handed over to the Gender Unit of the Lagos Police Command.
