Nigerian popular singer, Davido (real name David Adeleke) has launched a campaign for his uncle, Senatpr Ademola Adeleke’s governorship bid. The singer posted a campaign poster of the senator to Instagram, captioned: “Osun Will Be Great Again”.
Meanwhile, Senator Adeleke has equally written to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, on his governorship aspiration.
He wrote: “In accordance with the directive of the leadership of our great party, I wish to respectfully express my intent to vie for the ticket of the party as its candidate in the Osun state governorship election holding on the 22nd September, 2018”.
“As a loyal man from the strongest political base of the PDP in Osun state, I am willing, able and prepared to offer myself for this great service if given the opportunity to fly our flag as the governorship candidate.
Senator Adeleke succeeded his elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke after the latter’s sudden death, on April 23, 2017, due to alleged overdose of prescription drugs.
The late senator was a member of the ruling party in the state and at the federal level – the All Progressives Congress. The party’s decision not to hand his brother, Ademola, a ticket to succeed his brother made him team with the PDP, on which platform he was elected into Senate.
