Femi Fani-Kayode, an opposition politician, has thumbed down a viral image of Senator Dino Melaye sitting on the floor after his botched escape from the police on Tuesday. Fani-Kayode, who at different times was aviation, and culture minister, described the action as unbecoming of a Nigerian senator.
“A Senator should not behave like this: not even an APC one. This is not honor, strength or class”, said the politician who on bail from his corruption trial.
Fani-Kayode alleged President Muhammadu Buhari was behind Melaye’s humiliation and others’ opposed to him. “We must face our oppressors with dignity, strength and courage,” Fani-Kayode said.
Senator Melaye is currently admitted to the National Hospital, Abuja. He is suspected to have broken a vertebrae after jumping off a police vehicle to avoid being taken to Kogi, where he is expected to face a trial for alleged illegal firearm possession.
