A pharmaceutical company in Ile Ife, Osun state, has been hit by an explosion around 10pm on Saturday. Residents of Moore area, where the company is located, told PUNCH Metro that a Improvised Explosive Device, IED, was planted in the building. They said the blast had resulted in a fire which razed the building, consuming products worth millions of naira.
A resident of the area told the same medium that someone, who was trapped in the rumble, had died at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
Folasade Odoro, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said via a Whatsapp group that the cause of the explosion had yet to be ascertained.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has told residents to be calm. He promised that the elders would get to the bottom of the matter.
