Ikpeazu’s Convoy In Ghastly Accident, Two Die

Two people have died in an accident involving the convoy of Nkechi Ikpeazu, the wife of Abia state governor. The victims were Promise Uche-Nwamkpa, wife of a former member of the Abia state House of Assembly; and Nwamaka Maduchukwu, a senior special assistant on media to the governor’s wife.

NAN reported that the convoy was returning from a burial ceremony held at Ntigha-Uzor in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia.
The ill-fated Hummer jeep the women were travelling in somersaulted three times.

While a female occupant of the vehicle reportedly said the driver of the jeep, Bright Ugwubujor, over-sped, the latter denied.

He attributed the occurrence to faulty brakes. He said, “When I tried to overtake the vehicle, I noticed an oncoming vehicle and attempted to retreat but I encountered a bump on the road and when I tried to apply the brake it could not work. Immediately, the vehicle began to somersault,” he said.

The accident occurred around 5pm on Tuesday evening.
