Kayode Adeyefa, a staffer of an insurance company, has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for stealing Twelve Million, Five Hundred and Fifty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Naira in depositors’ funds.
The Osun State College of Education’s Student Insurance Welfare Scheme, which owned the money, had petitioned the EFCC on the matter. Following his investigation,
the 58-year-old Adeyefa was arraigned on four counts of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
The prosecution was able to prove Adeyefa committed the offences beyond doubts. In his ruling, trial judge Akin- David Oladimeji of the Osun State High Court sitting in Ede, sentenced Adeyefa to five years jail on counts one and two, which are to run concurrently. Also, he was convicted and sentenced him to three years on third and fourth counts, also to run concurrently.
The court also ordered him to pay back the stolen money.
