A probe panel set up to probe the allegation of collusion between soldiers and bandits carrying out killings in Taraba submitted its report on Wednesday. Brig-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma had levelled the allegation against the soldiers, urging the citizens to defend themselves. A statement the army and the presidency took exception to.
Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai receiving the report from the panel’s chairman Maj.-Gen. John Nimyel promised to make its findings public.
“We will take every aspect of this report very seriously, we will make this report available to appropriate superior authorities”, he said.
“We will also make this report available to the media so that they will see clearly what transpired and to see whether the allegations against the military, particularly the Nigerian army, is grounded or whether it is true or not.’’
The army chief also promised that the recommendations of the panel would be implemented.
