The Nigerian Army has said it is untrue reports that it was withdrawing troops on special operations in the north and other parts of the country.
The army said it will continue to ‘defend the territorial integrity of the country and provide help to civil authorities’.
“Troops on the ground will continue to intervene decisively to checkmate any form of criminality” said Brigadier General Texas Chukwu the army spokesperson
Moreover, the army said provision of social and developmental infrastructures by states governors and local councils chairmen would “help reduce incidences of crime and criminality in our society”. It further urged the public to report “suspicious movements in their area to the security agency for prompt action.”
