Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector-General of Police, is to be represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Joshak Habila, before the Senate on Wednesday.
The Senate had last Thursday summoned the IGP, to explain the arrest and detention of Senator Dino Melaye last week.
The IGP delegated Habila, while he accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to Bauchi State during his official visit. The senate rejected his presence, tagging the IGP’s action as an ‘insult”, re-ordering him to appear before it today.
Punch reports that the Inspector-General had arrived at the National Assembly Complex, while the Senate had begun a closed-door session.
It further reported that the DIG, who is to represent him, was waiting to be called into the Senate chamber, while he waits at the office of Senator Ita Enang, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters ( Senate) .
