The All Progressives Congress, APC, has told rival Peoples Democratic Party its former members who defected to its fold on Saturday were inconsequential. The ex-APC members kissed the ruling party goodbye at a well-attended rally, held at the Freedom Park, Oshogbo. In a swift reaction, the APC led its members to sweep off “the mess” it said the PDP left behind.
Gboyega Famodun, APC chairman, Osun chapter, explained the decision to sweep off the PDP’s trail.
‘‘Because we are a party that cares for the well being of the environment, we decided to clean up the mess left behind by the PDP after the rally,” Famodun said.
Ajibola Bashiru, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun, described one of the defectors -Fatai Dekola - as “a political contractor claiming to be a politician
“. However, Sunday Bisi, the publicity secretary of the PDP, described APC’s action as the “dance of shame” and “clownish”.
‘‘We are not bothered about the display of indolence by those who embarked on that futile exercise,” Bisi said. The Osun governorship election is fixed for Sept. 24, 2018.
