Adekoya Taofeek Ayodele, 30, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing nine 13KVA Mantrac generators and 72 power batteries belonging to MTN and said to worth twenty-nine million and five hundred and twenty thousand naira (N29, 520, 000.00).
Ayodele was arrested following a tip-off. It was alleged that Ayodele sold four of the stolen generators for N1.2million.
Police prosecutor, Benson Emuerhi, said the offence was committed between April and May, 2017 at the Yaba area of Lagos state. He said that the offence contravened and punishable under Sections 411, 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.
The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the two counts charge of theft preferred against him.
Presiding magistrate, Sule Amizat granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in the like sum. She said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with verified addresses.
The case was adjourned till July 23, 2018 for mention.
