Man In Court For N47million Jewelry Theft

A man, Happiness Denis, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing jewellery valued at Forty-Seven Million naira (N47, 000, 000).

The items, including Frank Muller diamond encrust wristwatch, Rolex wristwatch, Roberto Cavalli bracelet, were said to be property of one Uchena Obiageli.

Police prosecutor, Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 12, 2018 at Isaruo Estate, in the Lekki area of Lagos state. He said the offence contravened and punishable under Sections 411, 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.

Denis pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the two-count charge of theft preferred against him.
Presiding magistrate, Sule Amizat, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must have verified addresses.  The case was adjourned till July 30, 2018 for mention.
