A 30- year-old man, Azeez Sakaon was on Tuesday arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a handbag containing a phone and N45, 000 cash, belonging to one Akeem Olamide.
Police prosecutor, Benson Emeurhi, told the Court that Saka committed the offence on May 4, 2018 along Elegbin road, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos state.
According to the Emeuhri, the phone, said to be an Infinix Hot, was valued N30, 000. The total value of the stolen assets is N75, 000.
He said the offence contravened and punishable under Sections 411, 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.
The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the one count charge of theft preferred against him.
Presiding magistrate, Sule Amzat granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties. She said that one of the sureties must be a relative and has a verified address.
The case was adjourned till July 26, 2018 for hearing.
