A man has swindled one Pastor Omotosho Omopo through a phoney car sale. According to the story, Kolawole Ajayi, the accused, promised to help Omopo procure a car. Omope met Ajayi through one Benjamin Adeyeye. Ajayi received the sum of Eight Hundred and Twenty-seven Thousand Naira from Omopo for the car purchase but bolted away with it. He was later arrested and arraigned, on Thursday, before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos, on two counts of conspiracy and stealing. During his arraignment, police prosecutor, Benson Emuerhi told the court that Ajayi committed the offence in December 2017 in Shasha Akowonjo area of the state, adding that the offence contravened and punishable under Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.
The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the two counts charge of theft preferred against him.
Presiding magistrate, Sule Amizat granted the defendant a bail worth N50, 000, with two sureties in the like sum. She said that addresses of the sureties must be verified.
The case was adjourned till June 25, 2018.
