Senator Dino Melaye has been granted bail in the sum of N10 million in his trial for alleged gun-running. Justice Nasir Ajana of a Lokoja High Court granted the application based on the conviction submitted by the defense counsel, Mike Ozekhome.
Ozekhome said there was no proof that Melaye would jump bail. He told the court that if his client was kept in detention further, it could cause a further deterioration to his health.
Ajana therefore admitted Melaye to bail, with one surety for N10 million. The embattled senator was not in court, as he was still on hospital admission in Abuja.
Melaye had been arrested after he was accused by two suspects of supplying them guns to unleash mayhem in Kogi.
