President Buhari, Saraki, Dogara Hold Private Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly called for a private meeting with the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and House of Representatives’ Speaker, Yakubu Dogara. Daily Trust  claimed a source told it the “emergency meeting” has no specific agenda. The report speculated President Buhari might discuss the 12 Tucano fighter purchased without appropriation and the drumbeats of impeachment raging against him in both the Senate and House of Reps .

“The release of the money for the purchase of Supet Tucano has shown that no money was lost,” said the source who also hinted that the American Government was unhappy the money was not appropriated for.

Buhari’s letter to the houses of parliament stated that he granted anticipatory approval for the release of $469million for the aircraft purchase to meet the deadline given by the American government for the deal. More so, the president is likely to discuss the 2018 Appropriation Bill, which is yet to be passed by the legislature.
