Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has said that Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles' coach, will only invite players to the team's World Cup squad on merit. He said he could vouch for the German saying he was a disciplined coach who values excellence above all things.
Pinnick said this when he appeared on Channel Television's Sunrise Daily on Monday. He said the coach would never demand for any monetary gratification before including a player in his squad saying he was a thorough professional.
“Not Gernot Rohr. He is a coach that is very professional. He played for Bayern Munich and has been an Ambassador.
“He is somebody that has an image that is almost untainted. You should understand the pressure. Once a player is excellent on the field, there is no way a coach would not want to get results.
“If a player will give him that result, Gernot Rohr will never cage any player. That, I can tell you,” he said.
Pinnick also revealed that football agents have been pressurising him to include their clients in the World Cup.
“I have pressure from agents, they want their players to be added in World Cup squad,'' he added.
Newsbreak.ng reports that the 30-man provisional list for the team will be released today.
