The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, said action taken by the Senate in the suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is unlawful and unconstitutional.
The Attorney General gave this view while making a submission yesterday in the hearing of the suit by Omo-Agege challenging his suspension by the Senate at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
“The actions of the Senate leading to the suspension of the plaintiff are unlawful and unconstitutional,” he said.
Omo-Agege is seeking an order of court restraining the Senate, Senate President Bukola Saraki and the AGF from continuing hearing on any allegation he made in the Senate based on the provisions of Section 24(a) and (c) of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act Cap L12 LFN 2004.
Meanwhile, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba has fixed May 10 for judgement in the suit after listening to the submissions by other lawyers in the matter.
