Donald Trump, United States President, has cancelled his summit with Kim Jong-Un, North Korea's leader.
Trump stated this in a letter written to Kim on Thursday. He has cited ''open hostility'' in North Korea's recent statement as reason for his decision.
The decision to cancel the summit comes after North Korea destroyed its nuclear test site. The North had canceled talks with South Korea after joint military tests with the US continued in the Korean peninsula. The action had cast doubts on the possibility of the summit with Trump happening.
Earlier Thursday, a top North Korean official, Choe Son Hui, called Vice President Mike Pence's remarks likening Pyongyang with Libya "ignorant" and "stupid."
Trump went ahead to threaten North Korea saying: ''You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used''.
