Two persons thought to belong to the Aiye Confraternity have been charged with illegal possession of firearms. They are Akande Oluwabusayo and Oluwagbotemi Oni. The suspects were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, on April 7, at Oke-Onitea, Osogbo, Osun state.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye, told the court of the suspects’ alleged offence.
“They were apprehended with guns and live cartridges,’’ Oladoye said.
He said the offences contravened Sections 27(1) (b) (I) of the Firearms Law of the Federation of Nigeria and Sections 64(a) (b) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2003. The charges were read to the accused, to which they pleaded “not guilty”.
The magistrate thereafter issued a remand order for the suspects in Ilesa Prison.
