A lady, Meaghan Mitchell, decided to one of the most surreal things: leave her newly-wedded husband just after 16 days of saying "I do", thereby leaving the groom heartbroken.
Andy Mitchell was stunned to find out his wife was having an affair less than a week after they tied the knot in a lavish £30,000 ceremony in Mexico.
The 40-year old Andy, from Kelty, Fife in Scotland, claimed the affair started on his wife Meaghan’s bachelorette night
The couple married in Akumal Bay Beach Resort, Mexico, at a lavish wedding attended by friends and family, on which they personally spent £6,000.
Photos of the wedding on Facebook show the apparently happy couple frolicking on the beach with their well-dressed guests.
But barely a fortnight later, Andy, 40, decided to make a very public statement that their marriage was over.
He posted on Facebay Fife, advertising the rings: “Hi, recently I got married in Mexico on the 3rd of June and this was the wedding set I used while Meaghan Mitchell said her marriage vows.”
He claimed: “However, six days later, I found out she started having an affair on her hen night and it carried on for eight weeks through our dream wedding.”
The previous day, he posted a series of what he claims were screenshots of his wife’s phone that appeared to show an intimate conversation between two people.
Andy said he was more “shocked than hurt” when he found out.
The Taxi service manager put his wedding ring up for sale and posted messages shared between partner Meaghan and her lover.
Andy wants £400 for the wedding bands.
The bride, Meaghan, admitted going off with another man but denied cheating on her husband before the wedding.
She, however, defended her actions, saying she was "naive" when she first met her husband.
She said: “We (Meaghan and new lover) did not have sex on our hen do; it was after the wedding. I didn’t do anything on my hen night.
“We know what we’ve done and take full responsibility. I was young and naive when I first got with Andy.”
