The Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory in Gudu, Abuja, has refused Jolly Nyame, a former Governor of Taraba state, bail.
Nyame is currently serving a 14-year jail term for diversion of over N1 billion belonging to the state.
Justice Adebukola Banjoko ruled that his bail application was ”unmeritorious”. The judge ruled that bail was never granted to a convict as a matter of right but only under “exceptional circumstances,” which could include ill health.
Nyame had claimed in his application that he had been denied access to herbal medicine which he used in treating his diabetes and hypertension.
