Ganiyat Fawehinmi, wife of late Gani Fawehinmi, a human rights activist, and Mohammed, his first son, have arrived the Presidential Villa in Abuja for the posthumous award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on the lawyer.
President Muhammadu Buhari had announced, along with the change in date of Democracy Day to June 12, that Fawehinmi will be conferred with the award to commemorate the day.
The late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, will also be honoured posthumously with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger alongside Abiola’s running mate, Babagana Kingibe, at an event which starts at 10 am at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mohammed told State House correspondents that he is happy that his father’s efforts were not in vain. He said the family was proud of the honour bestowed upon their late father.
