Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of online newspaper, Saharareporters, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari betrayed late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, popularly known as MKO.
Sowore, who is aspiring for the office of the President in 2019, said this at an occasion marking the silver jubilee of June 12, which held at Abiola’s house in Ikeja.
He said Buhari shunned a meeting called by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, to discuss the actualisation of the June 12 struggle, shortly after Abiola’s mandate had been annulled.
Sowore said, “After the June 12 election was annulled, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo called a meeting to his farm, they called them ‘good governance group’, he invited all the former heads of state to fight for the revalidation of the June 12 election.
"Buhari only attended that meeting once. The next time we heard from Buhari, he had become the head of the PTF, set up by their dictator, Abacha while Abiola was in jail.
“Buhari did not ask to see Abiola, he did not reject the offer from Abacha on the ground of conscience. Buhari also did not attend Abiola’s burial because if he was here, I would know”. So why would Buhari then some 20 years later care about Abiola?”
He further said the President does not care about anyone but himself and people from Daura, his hometown in Katsina state.
