Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano state, on Saturday shunned the All Progressives Congress' convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
He was seen on the night of the same day visiting Abubakar Atiku at his Abuja residence. Reports say the pair immediately held a private meeting which lasted for about 45 minutes.
Paul Ibe, spokesman of Abubakar, confirmed the visit but did not go into details.
Kwankwaso's absence from his party's convention is suspected to be as a result of his feud with Abdullahi Ganduje, his deputy of eight years and incumbent governor of Kano.
Ganduje is in control of the party structure in the state, while Kwankwaso who has numerous supporters does not have as much influence as Ganduje.
Speculators say Kwankwaso could defect before the 2019 elections.
