Dominic Nege, a driver at Rabel Nigeria Limited, subsidiary and distributor to International Breweries, the manufacturer of Trophy Lager, has been arrested for diverting a truck loaded with beer.
Edgal Imohimi, the state commissioner of police in press briefing on Thursday told journalists that Dominic was sent to Mammy Market, Boney Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos on March 14, 2018. After loading 143 crates of Trophy bottles with liquid contents, valued at ten million, three hundred thousand Naira(10,300,000), he diverted the goods to unknown destination and switched off his phone.
Dominic was employed and profiled by the company, it was later discovered that he submitted false information including fake address. The same goes with his guarantor.
According to Imohimi, “Investigation into the case commenced immediately and the intelligence component of the Command was mobilized to assist operatives of FSARS with necessary information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“Efforts to arrest the suspect paid off on June 11, 2018 when the suspect was traced to Makurdi, Benue State. During interrogation, the suspect led detectives to Sangotedo area of Ibeju Lekki where the Mitsubushi Canter Truck with Reg. No. JJJ-873-XJ was abandoned after he had disposed off the goods.”
The CP added that the suspect will be charged to court after investigation.
