A man, Corey Nauck, has been arrested for beating his 7-month-old son to death in from Folsom, California. The father of two, who was indicted by Saint Tammany Parish grand jury on a charge of first-degree murder, was said to have tortured the child because he was crying.
The 25-year-old, who had been left in care of the child since February 26, was arrested at a family member's home in Gulfport, a few days after the incident.
According to the sheriff's office, the Folsom Police reached out to it office for help, after the child was taken to the hospital with suspicious injuries and left in critical condition.
The police said Nauck offered no explanation for the injuries. The infant was flown to a Southshore hospital and was declared dead last Wednesday, two days after the incident.
Sheriff Randy Smith, later confirmed that Nauck confessed to losing his temper due to the baby's crying, and then physically abused the child.
Following the indictment, Sheriff Smith said: “This was an innocent and helpless baby. The idea that his precious life was taken by his own father is incomprehensible. Nothing is more horrific than the murder of an infant. I applaud our detectives who investigated this horrendous crime and worked to seek justice for this defenseless baby. Also thank you to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office for their assistance while in their jurisdiction.”
