Real Madrid and Santos on Friday, formally announced an agreement for 17-year-old wonderkid, Rodrygo.
The Santos striker, dubbed the 'new Neymar' has been in superlative form for the Brazilian club this campaign. He will follow compatriot, Vinicius Junior to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in July 2019, when he turns 18.
The Spanish newspaper MARCA, had previously reported that the deal was close to being finalized. It further said that the transfer cost the European Champions around 45 million euros.
Santos were first to post news of the transfer, which left the Los Blancos no other option than to release their own statement on the club's official website.
"Real Madrid CF and Santos Football Club have agreed that Rodrygo will join Real Madrid when he comes of age," the statement read.
"Although the player would be able to join our club in January 2019, the agreement states that his arrival will take place in July of the same year," the statement reads.
