Three suspected 'awawa' cultists were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly grabbing a woman's buttocks.
Clifford Ogu, the police prosecutor, said the crime was committed on June 17, 2018 on Popoola street, Ekoro, in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos around 2am.
Ogu said they also breached the peace of the people by holding an unlawful meeting of ‘awawa cult’ and threatening lives with violence, hereby committed an offense contrary to Sections 411, 168, 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The suspects, Olusegun Ademola, 18, Lukemon Rilwan, 20 and Ogunjimi Jubril, 21, were also said to have slapped their victim, Ashinyanbi Comfort, on her face.
They all pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
J. A. Adegun, the presiding magistrate, granted a bail of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum to the defendants.
Adegun added one of the sureties must be blood relatives and the other a religion leader, must be resident of Lagos state with evidence of tax payment.
The case was adjourned till July 4, 2018.
