An accident involving three vehicles occurred on Wednesday morning at the Fadeyi axis of Ikorodu road in Lagos. The vehicles; a Golden Penny company truck and two private vehicles; a Toyota Corolla and a Black Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, were severely damaged as a result of the incident. One of our correspondents, who was the accident scene, noticed that the carrier of the truck had bent into the BRT (Bus Rapid Transportation) lane, while the driver’s door and that of the back passenger of the SUV were heavily compressed and dented. The accident caused a heavy morning traffic gridlock on the ever busy Ikorodu road, especially for commuters moving inward towards Yaba and Ojuelegba. Members of both the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, were seen by on ground to control the traffic situation. Confirming the incident to Newsbreak.ng via a phone interview, Adebayo Kehinde, spokesperson of LASEMA, said there was no death and that no one involved got injured. He said the accident was due to a brake failure. He said, “There are no casualties recorded. The accident involved a Golden Penny truck and two other vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Black Jeep. No life was lost and no injury sustained. “The accident was as a result of brake failure.” This latest incident occurs just a few hours after a truck conveying plywood crushed some commercial buses, popularly known as danfo, as well as a Toyota Camry, killing two persons.
