Three suspected armed robbers were Thursday lynched at Salihawa village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The suspects had reportedly blocked a road between Barawa and Salihawa village around 8.30am. Police sources said the robbers, during the operation, shot one Sani Lawal, a 31-year-old resident of the village.
He said, “The development made other villagers to mobilise and confront the robbers who were eventually lynched.”
It was gathered that two of the robbers died on the spot, while the third one was rescued by policemen who later arrived the scene.
He was, however, said to have died at General Kospital, Katsina, where he was admitted for treatment.
The spokesman for the state Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.
He said one locally-made pistol was recovered from the lynched suspected armed robbers.
“The last suspect later died, while the victim is responding to treatment. The men of the police Special Anti Robber Squad have been deployed in the area with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the syndicate while investigation continues," he added.
