Egypt goalkeeper, Mohamed El-Shenawy, has reportedly refused his Man of the Match award following his incredible display against Uruguay on Friday.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper was outstanding in his country's 0-1 loss to the South Americans, making saves from both Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani.
According to a report, El-Shenawy rejected the traditional post-match award because the segment is being sponsored by an alcoholic brand, 'Budweiser'
Budweiser is the official sponsor of the FIFA 2018 World Cup Man of the Match award – presenting the game’s best player with an artistic red goblet.
After the game, the goalkeeper was seen raising a hand to snub the gift, which was said to have generated some controversy.
