A Kenyan woman, Juliet Mulupi, has reportedly died after undergoing a failed breast enlargement surgery in the city of Karen.
Mulupi died of sepsis; a resulting health complication from the procedure, according to a family member.
A local newspaper, The Star reports that the deceased was operated and discharged by an unidentified surgeon after a successful operation last week.
The mother of three was said to have developed severe abdominal pain that eventually got worsened later.
Mulupni was taken to the Nairobi Hospital for review, where she was immediately admitted to the High Dependency Unit, then the Intensive Care Unit, ICU.
Doctors discovered that her intestines were cut and punctured in the first surgery, and that it was too late to save her life.
“Because her intestines were cut, all the waste was seeping out and spreading inside the stomach. That caused an infection called sepsis. Doctors battled to save her life on Friday but she died from the infection,” the family source told the Star on Monday.
