The Brazilian Football Confederation, CBF, has promised each player in their National team $500,000 (N181 million) if they win the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The federation made the announcement on Wednesday ahead of the team’s second Group E game against Costa Rica on Friday. The Selecao were surprisingly held to a 1-1 by Switzerland in their first game.
According to the CBF, each player will pocket the amount, which was also offered them if they had won in 2014 when they hosted.
The country’s football house gave the team $1.5 million for winning the 2002 edition in Japan and Korea; $1.1 million more than what players received as reward when they won eight years earlier in the United States.
