Ahmed Ibeto, Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, has resigned and renounced his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The ex-envoy arrived the country from Pretoria on Sunday before handing in his resignation to the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday.
Ibeto, who has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had been received by over one thousand supporters at Ibeto in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
Reports say the former deputy Governor of the state, is eyeing the governorship ticket of the PDP in 2019.
He was a member of the PDP until the primary election of the party in November 2014, during which he lost the governorship ticket to Umar Nasko, a former Chief of Staff to ex-governor Babangida Aliyu.
