Brazil’s Neymar Admits To ‘Play-acting’ at World Cup

Brazil forward, Neymar has admitted to exaggerating some of his reactions after being fouled during the World Cup in Russia.

In a sponsor’s video broadcast shown on several Television networks in Brazil, the striker accepted the criticism, but said it is because he suffers a lot on the pitch.

“You may think I exaggerate. And sometimes I do exaggerate. But the truth is I suffer on the pitch,” Neymar said in the ad.

It was the first time the Paris Saint-Germain star was admitting to his own antics at the tournament.

His performances, especially against Switzerland in the team’s first group game, attracted severe condemnation among former Brazil players.

Despite his impressive display in the 2-0 second round victory over Mexico, Brazil fans and pundits focused more on his theatrics on the pitch, which included dives, rolling on the pitch and frequent arguing with referees.

The player was mocked and mimicked in a viral video, which depicted him rolling from the pitch to a highway and on an avalanche.

The former Barcelona only scored two twice at the tournament in Russia.
