Chelsea on Thursday parted ways with manager, Antonio Conte, Sky Italia has said.
Italian media on Wednesday said Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis said the Premier League club were close to securing a deal for Maurizio Sarri, the club’s boss, tipped to replace Conte.
Conte led Chelsea to Premier League glory in his first season two years ago. He however failed to repeat the feat last season, winning the FA Cup, the side’s only silverware, by beating Manchester United in the final.
The Blues will also be missing when the UEFA Champions League kicks off after finishing fifth.
Roman Abramovich was said to have been disappointed with the performance of the Italian and was determined to fine a replacement.
