Fake Visa Agent Lands In Court


Alex Iyangbese, a suspected fake visa agent has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court on Friday.

The suspect and others, said to be at large, allegedly collected a sum of N1.05 million from one Tochukwu Godwin, in April, 2018, at No 1, Oluwole Church Street, in the Oshodi area of Lagos state.

Police prosecutor, G. Benson, told the court that Iyangbese and his accomplices pretended to be visa agents and promised to get the victim a South Korean visa with the money.

Benson said the accused and his colleagues, having collected the money failed to produce the visa or refund Godwin.

The prosecutor also said the suspects stole an international passport with number: AO8483151, belonging to victim.

He said the offences are punishable under Sections 287 and 411of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded “not guilty” to four-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Sule Amzat, the presiding Magistrates, granted the suspect N200, 000 bail, with two sureties in like sum. His counsel, Emmanuel Osigi, had earlier applied for his bail.

She ruled that the sureties must be employed and provide verifiable residential addresses. The magistrate adjourned until October 22, 2018.
