Four men were Thursday arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for an alleged unlawful display and possession of dangerous weapons used to inflict injury on their victim and damaging a car. The defendants; Kamulu Bisiriyu, 60, Sanni Azeez, 21, Liafisu Adewale Sanni 50 and Mutini Sanni 20 are facing a four-count charge of unlawful display of dangerous weapon and breach of peace. Cousin Adams, the prosecution officer told the court that the defendants with others now at large, on July 4, 2018 at Otulu Ibeju Lekki Lagos at about 1pm came into Otulu community with cutlass, charms and heavy sticks to beat and chase people of the community causing breach of peace. Adams said in the process of this chaos they hit one Yusuf Lawal with a stick on his head causing him serious injury and damaged the rear light of a Nissan Premeria car with registration number AKD 322 AD, worth sixty thousand naira (N60,000). He said the offense contradicts and is punishable under Sections 411, 173, 168 and 340 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. The defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the charge read to them. Komolafe O. A, the presiding magistrate granted the defendants bail of one hundred thousand naira each with two sureties in like sum. He said both sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment. The case was adjourned till August 8, 2018.
