Suleiman Hunkuyi, the lawmaker representing Kaduna North senatorial district, has apologised to the state chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP, for leaving the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2015.
Tendering his apology at a PDP stakeholders' at the party secretariat along Ungwan-Kanawa in Kaduna on Friday, Senator Hunkuyi said he regretted working for the emergence of Nasir El-Rufai as the state Governor.
Senator Hunkuyi, who recently returned to the PDP on Wednesday, called on all his political associate party members to work hard to ensure that Governor El-Rufai does nor return to the Government House for a second term in 2019.
Responding, Felix Hyet, the party's state Chairman, expressed delight that the Senator has retraced his steps and has returned to his original party.
Recalling the anguish he felt after his defection in 2015, Hyet, however, told Senator Hunkuyi that he and his followers have been readmitted back to the PDP and will enjoy the same rights as other party members.
He said, “You and your supporters are welcome back to our party. We can assure you that you have equal rights with other members of the party.
“We are happy that you have realised your mistake and retrace your steps. With you and your supporters, (we are) sorry for the APC in 2019."
