Man Remanded For Abducting, Defiling Teenager


A Magistrates' Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State has ordered the remand of a 22-year-old man, Olaniyi Lawal, on Tuesday for abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Lawal is arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on abduction, sexual assault and defilement.

According to Raphael Donny, the prosecutor, the defendant unlawfully abducted the teenager and kept her in his house for two days with the intention to sexually assault the victim.

Donny said the defendant committed the offence on July 22, 2018 at Suberu Ojo Avenue, Casso bus stop Alagbado Lagos.

He added that the offence is contrary and punishable under Sections  269, 261 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge read against him.

Osensami rejected the plea and ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri prison till the next adjournment date.

The case was adjourned till August 20, 2018 for hearing.
